This is the first [airquotes]collection[/airquotes] of music I've created under this pseudonym, recorded and edited/slapped together periodically between March 2020 and February 2021.
At this point its already become an incredibly tired cliché to talk about how the process of making music was radically altered for basically everyone in some way shape or form during that time due to a virus that shares a name with a mediocre cerveza, but regardless, from this odd little alcove ([no?] reference to my longer running/better known/relatively more "accessible" project intended), I found myself compelled over time to move away from my initial concept of Flux as a "drone project" focused simply entirely on making beautiful(?) washes of sound/noize or whatever and instead learn to play "against myself", which also allowed for the sound to branch out in ways I didn't expect, and older/more deeply ingrained influences I didn't necessarily expect to manfiest themselves under this pseudonym to come out of the woodwork. The result is a loosely strewn together compilation of improvisations/sound collages I'm actually pretty proud of. Make of it what you will, but this is a snapshot of this weird little period of time for me, hence my first "Saeclum". Here's to more, hopefully more fun/less psychologically draining Saeclums to come.
If you like any of this stuff, be prepared to be disappointed when this isn't actually as good: Fripp/Eno, Fennesz, David Torn, Jon Hassell, OPN, Terry Riley, Forma, Neu!/Cluster/Harmonia, Durutti Column, This Heat, Oren Ambarchi, maybe the weirdest/most spaced out 70s Miles shit, most of whats on Kranky and ECM, Gastr del Sol, Seefeel, lovesliescrushing, Budd/Guthrie, Wes Borland (seriously), Enya (seriously), apparently Flaming Lips, I could go on...
